The Life Skills and Alternatives to Employment program aims to improve the participants quality of life. The program is funded by the Disability Services Commission of Western Australia. The Alternatives to Employment program enables individuals to access programs that will assist with -
Social Participation - engaging and participating in activities using natural supports that are enjoyable and reflect the participants needs, interests and culture. These activities are to be in an appropriate setting aimed to facilitate inclusion.
Personal Independence - the ability to make decisions and undertake the activities of every day life.
Life Long Learning - acquiring and developing skills, competencies and knowledge to support independence, personal interests, and inclusion in the community.
Enhancing Natural Support Networks - having networks and relationships beyond a persons family and those developed with paid support workers.
SMP liaises with the Education Department, Local Area Coordinators and other allied health professionals.
